What a bizarre comment. You can see my interests on my academic webpage -- yetterchappell.net/Rich… (Many academics in general have rather narrow interests; if anything I think that's *less* true of the EAs I'm familiar with.)
But most importantly: how is this relevant to anything? You could respond to literally any argument for anything …

But most importantly: how is this relevant to anything? You could respond to literally any argument for anything by saying, "Maybe we'd take you more seriously if you talked more about the things *we* are interested in," but that's just stupid and a total non-sequitur. If you're not interested in a topic, then don't bother joining the conversation.
