Professor Chappell: honest question, do you think about anything else? Perhaps more of us in the philosophy profession would take EAs more seriously if EAs had broader intellectual interests and could speak competently and intelligently to the things *we* are interested in. Most EAs one encounters in philosophy have one-track minds.
What a bizarre comment. You can see my interests on my academic webpage -- http://yetterchappell.net/Richard/ (Many academics in general have rather narrow interests; if anything I think that's *less* true of the EAs I'm familiar with.)
But most importantly: how is this relevant to anything? You could respond to literally any argument for anything by saying, "Maybe we'd take you more seriously if you talked more about the things *we* are interested in," but that's just stupid and a total non-sequitur. If you're not interested in a topic, then don't bother joining the conversation.
